Hilary PfeiferARTIST'S STATEMENTI love beautiful objects. The things that excite me most usually involve color, texture, surprise or humor, so I often use these things in my work.I like to say that my sculptures are made from wood, look like clay, and were made using many of the techniques and scale concerns of metalsmithing: The three main areas of focus in my art education. I feel loyal to my craft background for many reasons, in particular its focus on not just making things, but making them well. The gray areas of an issue have always interested methe places where you cannot easily see "wrong" or "right", but the myriad of factors in between that you must weigh and consider before making a final decision. My work in the past few years has been an exploration of these kinds of complexities that makes life so rich.
